The association will be non-political, nonsectarian and non-commercial body of the persons who at any time have undergone training at or have been associated with GCS Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre (GCSMCH & RC ), Ahmedabad.

The Association

NAME: The name of the association shall be GCS MEDICAL COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AHMEDABAD

OFFICE: The registered office of the association shall be situated at the GCS Medical college, OPP. DRM office, Naroda road, Ahmedabad- 380025.The executive committee may decide as and when required to open a branch office of the association.

  • To develop and strengthen a feeling of fraternity amongst the members.
  • To inculcate the values of the responsibility of the members towards the public.
  • To act as a medium of communication for information related to the general interest of the members and to arrange cultural and social meetings of the members.
  • To provide a link between members, GCS medical college, fresh graduates thereof as well as the other associations and representatives etc. of medical fraternity.
  • To organize short duration courses of continuous education in various disciplines of medical science for the members.
  • To organize talks, workshops, seminars, group discussions etc. on matters of topical interest in medical science for the benefit of the members.
  • To establish, operate, promote, run and manage research and other educational institutions, including colleges and laboratories engaged in the field of medicine.
  • To establish, sponsor, administer and provide funds, stipends, scholarships and study grants to enable deserving and/or meritorious students and teacher to pursue their studies, research and training in the field of medicine.
  • To provide for training of selected deserving persons for the purpose of the fulfillment and carrying out the objects of the Association.
  • To carry out research or undertake noncommercial projects in order to enrich knowledge of the members and contribute for resolving the socially relevant problem areas related to medical field, which need humanitarian and noncommercial approach.
  • To undertake projects entrusted by the Government or Semi Government authorities, universities or other bodies, commensurate with the objects of the Association.
  • To organize and carry out blood donation camps, free health check-ups and such other programmes to create public awareness and to educate general public towards better health and hygiene and preventive measures against diseases.
  • To provide medical aid and financial assistance to the poor patients undergoing treatment at GCS Hospital.
  • To institute, offer and grant awards, prizes, trophies, fellowships, certificates, medals and other honors to recognize, encourage and promote excellence in the field of medical science.
  • To establish, maintain, and administer libraries, information services and publish books, pamphlets, magazines, periodicals, journals, reports, research material reprints and literature, directories, profiles, catalogue and course outlines, and procure, produce or purchase, store, utilize and exhibit audiovisual material or equipment like recorders, duplicator, cassettes, videotapes, films, filmstrips, flipcharts, flannel graphs, pictures, posters, stickers, badges, leaflets, radio and television sets in furtherance of the objects of the Association.
  • To utilize mass media like newspaper, magazines, journals, radio and television through news items, articles and advertisements and write-ups for furthering the objects of the Association.
  • To organize and/or participate in conferences, conventions, seminars, symposia and workshops in furtherance of the objects of the Association.
  • To establish contacts, collaborate with and enter into arrangements wherever feasible with other Trusts, Organisations or Societies having objects similar to this society for all any of the objects of the Association.

Membership - Rules & Regulations

ENTITLEMENT: The following categories of persons shall be entitled to be enrolled as members of "The Association" with payment of due fees.

Patron member: The Dean, by virtue of his office holding, will become Patron Member of the Association. He will not be eligible to participate and to vote at GBM.

Life time member: All past medical students, who were once on the rolls of GCSMC as undergraduate and/or postgraduate students, and have completed their studies, are eligible to become lifetime member on paying the Membership fees as prescribed by the Association on time to time, and applying in the prescribed form. They will be eligible to participate in all activities, and to attend and to vote at General Body Meetings (GBM).The life time membership fees will be Rs.1000/- per alumni with the provision to change as per time, inflation and needs of the Association.

Privilege Member: The existence of the privilege member shall come after 10 (Ten) years of existence of the Association. Only those life time members who have a life time membership for more than 10 years, have donated at least Rs.50,000/- during 10 years of their life time membership and/or significantly contributed in the functioning of the Association and who do not hold any office will be eligible to become Privilege Member. The duration of the Privilege Membership shall be five years. The Privilege members will be entitled to a set of new benefits in addition to the benefits entitled under the life time membership.

Honorary member: All past and present teachers of the ranks of assistant professor and above, who have served the institute for at least five years and who are not the past students of GCSMC are eligible for Honorary membership of the Association on applying in the prescribed form. There will be no membership fees for the honorary membership. They will be eligible to participate in all activities of the association. They will not be eligible to participate and to vote at GBM.

Special Council Member: The Ex. Governing Council member may continue as "Special Council Member (SCM) with equal rights as of council members.
